Digital Studio Mini Portfolio

1D: understands properties of two- and three-dimensional space and of the fourth dimension, time.2D: collaborates with other arts specialists in developing inter-related artworks.

DESCRIPTION:

Throughout ART 212, there have been various projects in which I have learned about many different interfaces of digital media. In the examples in my mini-portfolio, there are projects when I experiment with stop motion, photoshop, illustrator, photography, and circuits.

RATIONALE:

All of the projects pushed me in a variety of ways. I have had very minimal digital media exposure up until this course. I learned a lot and how to navigate digital media in a lot of different ways. Coming out of this course I feel more confident navigating digital media and am gaining the confidence to teach this in future classrooms as well!

Lesson Plan and Support Materials

5B)  understands principles and techniques, along with advantages and limitations, associated with a wide range of evidence-based instructional practices;
5C)  knows how to implement effective differentiated instruction through the use of a wide variety of materials, technologies, and resources;
5D)  understands disciplinary and interdisciplinary instructional approaches and how they relate to life and career experiences;

DESCRIPTION:

For my 212 lesson plan, I prepared an elementary-aged lesson (grades 3-5) for students to create their own monster that would solve a problem in the community. Students would build and learn to draw digitally through iPads and an app called Doodle Buddy.

RATIONALE:

Students are not only learning about and engaging with their community but also developing solutions to problems. Students will build off of their basic art skills they had been working on in years prior it will be a nice challenge to allow them to develop some skills to draw digitally. Since students are still rather young, they will draw with the iPads using their fingers or stylus to have more control rather than a mouse. Students will be shown artists who work digitally on movies such as Monsters Inc to gain inspiration. The PDFs to the side include the formative and summative assessments that would be used throughout the lesson.
